Kurzick
Sunspear
Lightbringer

Basically anything that provides you additional power when playing the game based on your rank. One of the worst ideas that A-Net came up with, and started the decline of focus on skill versus time spent.

All of the others...meh. If you want to blow your money/time on them, more power to you. I don't even mind the very small benefits of some of them (e.g. Treasure Hunter, Lucky, Wisdom).

When the Survivor title first came out, many people mistook it as being "reach X amount of EXP without dying". Many didn't realize that even a single death voided the title.

Hmm...
Makes you wonder why the next expansion 'Utopia' was trashed...and title grind wars (EOTN) was put in place instead?
An experiment gone wrong?
A marketing move gone bad?
Maybe ANet does need a more 'hands on' approach to players expectations, before they set game killing ideas into action?

Then I went back to my old stomping grounds in DOA.
And UW/FoW/ect.
Even tho I have a proven track record for killing Mallyx, and completing the the rooms required..I am not a blessings abuser.
I only used blessing(s) during the missions requiring them.
Same for LB/ect.

ok I haven't read all ten pages of this thread because A: I have a life and B: I can not be bothered.

but things I wish Didn't exist in guild wars or that are associated with Guild Wars

1. The idiot who came up with the idea of nerfing the permasin

2. Minipets (their a waste of money and add nothing to the game)

3. The quest that forces you to get 10,000 kurzick faction before you can progress.

As for the titles I like them it gives you something to aim at.

I understand why a lot of people posting in this thread dislike the titles that are tied to pve skills and other titles that promote discrimination for teamplay.

Fortunately for myself, if I do decide to play with others, it's either friends or guildies, and they do not discriminate based on [insert title here] rank.

I also belong to such a guild..(And alliance too!)
BUT..many are away for the summer, moving to different parts of the country...real life issues..ect.
Back before blessings, and title abuse..one could simply ping their bar..and take a competent PuG (gasp..I said that?)
Because, let's face it..ELITE areas were just that..and most of the players there actually had a vague idea of what to expect..and counter the hurdles.(WITHOUT blessings)
That option (for myself anyhow) is not available for a few more months..

Titles doesn't really bother me that much in the first place, they are just like a checklist to follow when u have nothin' else to do, following title are just waste of time: Lightbringer, Sunspear (these two i've personally done it and i don't want to do it again cause its nothin' but pure grinding) Asura Deldrimor, Ebon Vanguard, Norn, Treasure Hunter, Wisdom (this title is one the point less titles of all, it serve no absolute purpose at all)

uhm, Glad, champion, commander, hero gives ya "somekind" of power aswell ^^ as you get faction cap you aswell get better teams etc

You're an idiot. Because invincibility in a game is always good, right? Because completely bypassing the requirements for skill are awesome, right? Not to mention that this community was clamoring for its nerf. It took ectos from their relatively stable (albeit low) price of 5k to their current price of ~3k. NICE WORK. CHEERIO, MATE. The titles, for the most part, are soul draining, time consuming endeavours that suck you of any desire you have to play the game. Guardian is nice for a challenge, and the buyable ones are sort of cute, but Vanquisher/Reputation are straight forward grind.

Very few are compulsary (and even the ones that are are only to a very low level).
You don't have to do them so I don't see why anyone would think them "soul draining" or any such thing. It's your choice to do them.

An increase in the ancillary rewards that relate to titles doesn't bother me as much. So, you can store more faction, get a slight improvement to retaining lockpicks/salvaged items, etc...those don't directly impact how effectively I can kill stuff and complete PvE areas.

Regarding the better teams by having PvP titles, it's rather easy to form a group with guild/alliance mates if you're experiencing rank discrimination...those are likely the best sources of your most effective PvP experiences, anyways. But to each his own - I understand why these titles are maligned by many in the community.

Can I say my picks?

1. Norn, because I seriously hate norn as a whole! I hope they will make them a bit less stuck up in GW2

2. Zaishen, I like the idea of a Zaishen faction title, but it is kinda pointless without skills linked to it (I am NOT saying we need more PvE skills, ANEt has proved they cant make interesting ones), plus I can't stand the emote.

3. _________ hero (HA title), because I dont like the name (as pointless a reason as that. yeah, I know. Did we need to have valid arguments?)

4. Kind of a Big Deal, because it pushed some people to get max title for the sake of maxing them

And my personnal favorites :

Sweet tooth/dunken/Party , because on an appropriately themed char it just look cool, too bad some people go for it just for another maxed title.

Gamer , what can I say? cool looking, getting it is fun, only obtainable at certain time...

carthographer , because seeing all (ALL) of the 3 games is good

Luxon/Kurzick, because Luxon are cool? because AB is fun (what ever some people will think)

EOTN titles - All of them. My reasons are not really needed. All of them are a grind fest and ursan just kills brain cells. It really does.

But the titles that you have to buy I truly couldn't care about them. If you do them right and not be a lamer and use the zone glitching for the drunkard good for you.


Allegiance faction (kurz/lux) - Fine the way they are imo. You have the quick get it this way, and the more fun have fun to get it way.

PvP titles (glad,hero and etc) - Whatever the faction cap increase is well worth the time you spent.

Zaishen - all you idiots who bought your spear stop /zrank'ing people in a noob PvE town. Showing your e-peen is just retarded. This title is fine if you actually earn it just people need to stop spamming it on recharge.


As for getting into groups with a title rank. I like groups that form in the vent server I hang out in. I don't have the patience to heal idiots for ursan or the patience to grind my warrior to r10 norn.
